Jeff Brumley
Jeff Brumley is a Seattle-based lifelong musician with varied interests and directions. He received a B.A. in music from Seattle Pacific University, studying music education with Ramona Holmes, vocal performance with Jacinta Koreski, music theory with James Denman, orchestral conducting with Eric Hanson, and choral conducting with David Anderson. After college, he was trained at the Bass Collective in New York City, studying bass guitar and general professional musicianship with the finest teachers and performers in the city, including John Patitucci.
A multi-instrumentalist with 30+ years of experience, Jeff is primarily known as an electric bassist, performing on stage and in the studio with varied ensembles and styles, including musical theatre, churches, big bands, singer-songwriters, and everything in between. He was a founding member of Rise Up: the Hamilton Tribute, which performed concert arrangements of Broadway hits centered around the work of Lin-Manuel Miranda. He also regularly performs and records on guitar, piano, acoustic bass, mandolin & mandola, and tenor & plectrum banjo.
As the Conductor & Artistic Director of Seattle Mandolin Orchestra, Jeff has had the opportunity to create and perform many new arrangements, which have gone on to be played by mandolin ensembles all over North America. His original composition An American In Lahore will premiere in May 2026.
Jeff is a proud member of the Classical Mandolin Society of America, currently serves as its president, and has twice served as Mandocello Section Leader in the En Masse Orchestra.
Jeff has deep passion around criminal justice reform, particularly justice for the wrongfully convicted. He has been honored to contribute artistically to raise awareness on several prominent cases.
