In June 2000, my wife Robin and I visited family in the Chicago area--and seized the opportunity to pay a visit to one of the country's best lutheries--Lakland Basses. I became an official endorser of these fine instruments in January 2000, and it was an honor to come out for a grand tour of the facility by Dan Lakin, and free reign to try out any bass in the shop. In the meantime, I was able to test drive the newest model in the Lakland line, and also my second Lakland, a five-string fretless (whose picture you WON'T miss).
